One Love – Part 2
Welcome back. In part 1 we looked at the reggae rhythm, or skank. Now it’s time to check out the chorus, so grab a 4 or 10 hole C major diatonic harmonica and let’s get to work.
We’ll be working from the same breathing pattern we learnt in part 1, but now we’re focussing on the down beat. Once again we’ll be using double-stops. Purple tab is for 4 hole harmonicas. Orange tab is for 10 hole harmonicas. Each number tells you which hole to play. D is draw (breathe in) and B is blow (breathe out).
One heart
Here’s how it all sound when it’s put together.
Listen to the original song, so you have an idea of the structure. You can use the words to guide you when you play.
Give thanks and praise to the Lord

Now practise parts 1 and 2 with your harmonica group, deciding who would like to play each part. In Part 3 we’ll look at the lead solo and fills. See if you can discover any other famous Reggae songs and performers. Some names we thought of are Jimmy Cliff, Toots And The Maytals (left), Laurel Aitken, Dave and Ansel Collins, Prince Buster, Desmond Dekker and UB40.
